Thread starter micdavis Start date Dec 26, I would think Toys of the era Woody is from, would easily have had a pistol in the holster. So when Al steals him, brings in the cleaner and declares him complete. Why no gun? In the real world, yes. But I think the correct answer is Harder to sell dolls and dress up kits to year olds with a gun involved.

DrkMatter Well-Known Member. That's obvious. Because it wouldn't be PC if he did. It's the same stupidity that had them change the pistols in E. T to flashlights. Wes R Legendary Member. I agree. People have fits when they see kids with toy guns, people still want to ban GI joe for it and it's why there hasn't been a Megatron with a realistic gun form since the 80s. Plus the costume guns would have to fall under the US toy gun laws.

And you don't see many guns in disney films anymore since the 70s or so. I lost respect for Spielberg for doing all those changes to ET. Sluis Van Shipyards Legendary Member. Just go to any toy store like TRU. Witness the lack of an actual toy gun aisle. We had an entire aisle full of guns that would potentially make cops shoot you because they looked real. That was in the 80s. Apparently every kid who grew up playing with toy guns prior to the late 90's is now a homicidal killer.

Sign In. We still have a couple of years to wait until Toy Story 4 arrives in theaters, but maybe the movie will finally answer a question that many of us probably haven't even asked ourselves.

Or maybe it won't, but there is an interesting question regarding Woody that you may never have thought about. Woody most definitely has a holster for a gun in all three Toy Story movies, but he doesn't have a gun. Maybe the original Woody doll did come with a plastic gun thing or something, but maybe Andy happened to lose it when he was younger. I doubt it had anything to do with gun violence or setting a "bad example" in a kid's movie.

I remember reading it in either this Toy Story storybook I got as a kid from the Scholastic catalog, or I read it on the old toy story website when they use to have interviews from all the characters posted up. Anyway, I remember reading in one of those that Woody lost his toy gun when Andy had the chicken pox?

I'm not sure, but I remember reading something about Andy having chicken pox and losing the toy gun. Mind you, I could be wrong. If I still had that storybook then I could rule that out. Then that would leave the interviews, but the interviews got taken off the site years ago. Woody's hat, for example, though removable is quite large in comparison to the size the gun would have to be to fit into his holster, and kids and little parts just don't go well. Like looking at or creating Pixar fanart?

Then you'll love PixarPlanetdA! Also notice that Al was ecstatic at finding the hat but did not look for a gun. Why would the insane toy collecting completest not equip Woody with a gun?
