Everything excellent, particularly for network sitcoms. Needs to end as much as viewers might want their favorite series to run forever. And nine seasons and nine years later, in after the first performance in Finally completed its race for CBS to solve the television mystery that lasted almost ten years.

At least initially, the show worked with some interesting ideas. Firstly, the whole series has an engraved narrative: we observe the story told to the children of the main character, as the title implies.

Ted Mosby opens his series as an older guy, sitting down with his children for a long story about how he and his seemingly missing mother came together. After a little gloominess, we return to Ted in New York City in the late twenties.

Try to cheer them up with slapstick comedy. Buy them a drink and point them in the direction of a new hottie. Gin Rummy. Patty's Day. Babies are the cutest, but only if they aren't mine. I want two children, when the time is right.

I want 15 children. I'm not kidding. I'm not entirely sold on children, although they are pretty cute. Star Wars. Annie Hall. Field of Dreams. By playing laser tag. By talking about my problems. By baking delicious food. You don't like wasting your time. You try to be a courteous date and just see the whole thing through. You get a friend to give you an emergency call so you can leave quickly. A big job opportunity has come up but it requires you to leave town and away from your partner.

You turn it down. You've finally found the one, and you don't want to leave them. You start a dialogue with them and ask if they'd be willing to move with you. You break up with them. Long distance doesn't work, and you need to focus on your career. Which of these career paths appeal the most to you? Something corporate. Something related to the fine arts.

The sign of Saggitarrius is known for wanting to travel, but also for struggling with committing to a relationship, something that ends Robin's relationship with Ted, and keeps her single for a lot of the show. Robin could have also been a good candidate for the Capricorn sign, but this falls to one of Ted's earliest loves, Victoria.

Victoria is also someone who is ambitious and loves her work, as shown when she goes to Germany to try and live out her dream.
